Vue is through
First take: Can you watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox?
In short: nope. Sorry, fellow Xbox owners. You can’t watch PlayStation Vue, Sony’s popular livestreaming and on-demand TV service, on Microsoft-made Xbox consoles.
Although cross-platform play is getting more common with video games, Microsoft and Sony are still rivals. What’s more, Xbox doesn’t even have a TV service. So why would Microsoft call attention to that fact by supporting PS Vue?
That said, tons of other devices will allow you to enjoy PlayStation Vue’s vast catalog of channels and on-demand shows and movies. In fact, you may already own one.
How you can watch PlayStation Vue
Step one: sign up for a five-day free trial or subscribe. Next, choose from four different packages, offering 45–90+ channels, with prices ranging from $49.99 per month to $84.99 per month. From there, select a device, install the app (or navigate to vue.playstation.com/watch in your browser), and start streaming.
PS Vue has a reasonably generous policy on streaming to multiple devices, but there are rules. New subscribers get three simultaneous streams, then two more once they set a home device. Hint: it’s probably the one facing the couch with the well-worn butt grooves.
Those of you counting along should be holding up five fingers, total. This amount is anywhere from two to four more screens than are included in any package from AT&T TV NOW, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV.
You can watch three of these PlayStation Vue streams from outside your home, whether or not you declare a main streaming machine.
How's the Vue?

Vue at home
Streaming devices |
See? It’s not hard to find an alternative to using PlayStation Vue on an Xbox.
Nearly all of the above devices are either streaming sticks or set-top boxes. Download the PS Vue app and you’re good to go. If you don’t have one of those, don’t fret. Some are as cheap as $30.
Also, there’s likely at least one computer in your house. That means you can fire up an internet browser—PS Vue works with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and even Microsoft Edge—and stream your life away.

Since we all have streaming devices in our pockets (hint: it’s your phone), the active couch potato has options for watching on the move. Install the app on your Android or iOS smartphone, log in, and you’re all set. With laptops, access PS Vue through your internet browser.

Vue on its own devices
Gaming consoles |
Gasp! Yes, we’re going there: PlayStation Vue works on Sony gaming consoles. You heard it here first, folks! (It is kinda obvious, right?)
What’s not so clear is that you can stream to only two PlayStation 4 systems at a time, located in the same house. It’s even trickier for the PlayStation 3: limit one. What’s the issue? Beats us. But if you have more than two PS4s, bless you and your Doritos dust-encrusted digits.
Final take
With PlayStation Vue supporting so many other streaming devices, not being able to use the service on an Xbox isn’t such a big deal.
And that’s probably a good thing since pretty soon your Xbox system’s resources will be hogged by marathon sessions of Borderlands 3 and Gears of War 5.
PlayStation Vue FAQ
Can you get local channels on PlayStation Vue?
Yes! Each PlayStation Vue package includes local network affiliates. To find out which of your hometown channels will be in your plan, do a quick ZIP code check here.
What internet speed do I need for PlayStation Vue?
PlayStation Vue recommends at least 10 Mbps to start. That covers the first stream. If your household will be streaming on multiple screens, the service suggests 5 Mbps for each additional stream. So if three family members are streaming simultaneously, you’ll need an internet speed of 20 Mbps.
How much does PlayStation Vue cost per month?
It depends on the package you choose when you sign up. PS Vue offers four: Access ($49.99 per month, 45+ channels), Core ($54.99, 50+ channels), Elite ($64.99 per month, 70+ channels), and Ultra ($84.99 per month, 90+ channels).
All plans except Ultra include a five-day free trial.
Can you watch live TV on PlayStation Vue?
You betcha. Live TV streaming is the main benefit of PlayStation Vue. The ability to watch on-demand shows and movies is also pretty cool.
Can two people watch PlayStation Vue at the same time?
Yes. Especially if they’re in the same room. More seriously, PS Vue subscribers may stream on up to five devices at once if you register one of them as the home device.
Can I stream PlayStation Vue on multiple devices?
Yes. PlayStation Vue’s packages include up to five simultaneous streams, making it the best live TV streaming service for watching on multiple devices.
PS Vue’s top competitors—AT&T TV NOW, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV—include one to four simultaneous streams in their plans.
If you want more, Hulu + Live TV offers unlimited screens as an add-on for $9.99 a month.
Does PlayStation Vue have 4K?
Not yet. Currently, PS Vue video quality is limited to 720p at 60 frames per second, which is technically HD resolution, but not even close to 4K. But as more shows and movies are offered in 4K, that could change.
